DiSCOVER: First Day in Shanghai and Shanghai Museum

Today started off with a wake-up call at 5:45 am so we could hop on our fight from Xi’An to Shanghai, our final stop. The group landed in Shanghai around 11:30 am.

The first place we visited was the Shanghai Museum. Originally we were going to come here on the weekend, but our tour guide told us the line to get in was even longer on Saturdays and Sundays. So we quickly had lunch and headed there. The wait outside wasn’t great because it pouring rain, but the DiSCOVER group made it worthwhile by bonding as a group and shielding each other from the rain with umbrellas. This museum contained a British exhibition on opium and it showcased many interesting artifacts such as vintage coins, clothing, letters, and much more.

Since lunch was pushed back further into the day, the leaders decided that they would allow the participants to buy their own dinner. Therefore, by 7:00 everyone dispersed to grab what they liked to eat.
